What is the role of the tutor?
The role of your child’s tutor is to facilitate learning and guide your child in their educational journey. Our tutors will not simply give your child the answers, but rather provide the resources and knowledge to help your child become a confident, independent learner.
Seeing that Discovery Tutoring is an “In Home” tutoring service, does this mean the session must be conducted in our home?
Your child’s tutoring session does not have to be conducted at your home. If you would like to meet in a different location, please mention this in the comments section of the “Get Started!” survey. In some cases, tutors are willing to meet at their place of residence. Otherwise, we suggest a local library, coffee shop, church or community center.
How long will the tutoring session last?
Our tutoring sessions last approximately one hour. If on any given tutoring visit the child needs additional tutoring time, this can be arranged as the tutor’s schedule permits. You will be charged by the hour accordingly.
What if the original tutor we are assigned does not meet our expectations?
In the unlikely event you are not pleased with the original tutor assigned to your child, please call or e-mail Discovery Tutoring Service to let us know. We will then assign a new tutor for your child’s next tutoring session.
Are there any long-term contract commitments required with DTS?
No commitment is required; however, prices vary based on the number of sessions you sign up for with your child.
What will a tutoring session cost?
The prices for our tutoring sessions vary based on length of tutoring commitment and the subject matter to be tutored. K-12 general tutoring pricing starts at $35 per hour, while SAT tutoring prices start at $45 per hour. Specifics on session pricing will be discussed after the initial survey from the “Get Started” tab is completed.
